About Us

A family-run school with a simple belief: every child learns best when they are known, supported and free to find their own path.

How it began

A family business, born from a mother’s search for something different

Modderfontein Academy began as a family business. Our director, Tamsynn Lipchick, wanted an alternative to mainstream education for her own children: a school that would see each child as an individual instead of fitting everyone into the same mould.

That search became a school. What started as one family’s answer is now a community for families who want more for their children, and it is why we say, and mean it, that we are not just a school, we are a family.

Our approach

Education built around the individual

We provide individualised learning in a unique “home from home” setting, with a comprehensive digital learning platform and live one-on-one lessons.

Small classes

With only 8 to 10 learners per class, every child gets real attention. Teachers know each learner’s strengths, struggles and goals.

Personalised learning

Lessons are tailored to the way each learner learns best, so confidence grows, gaps close and curiosity stays alive.

Blended learning

A world-class online curriculum combined with live, contact support from our dedicated teachers.

Educational pathways

Learners can choose their own pathway

Not every learner needs the same route. At Modderfontein Academy, learners can choose the educational pathway that suits their strengths, interests and future plans, and we guide them along the way.

  • Primary Phase: Stage 0 to 6
  • Senior Phase: Stage 7 to AS Levels & GED
  • British International Curriculum
  • Blended Curriculum
  • GED
